Tiny Superhero is amazing!

If you missed the game last night, and missed the catch of the year so far, I feel bad for you. Holy Batman, was it ever AMAZING! Unfortunately, the Twins lost the game. We battled back so many times, but just couldn't catch up the last time. It was also sad because Guerrier finally had someone score on him :( He had his 14-inning scoreless streak snapped, and badly. He pitched a great 7th inning and got all three outs on only 7 pitches. But the 8th was not a good inning.

Anyway, I hope everyone gets healthy (Castillo was spiked on a slide home, Cirillo's having knee problems, and of course, the fiance) and is ready to win today.

Boyfriend of the Day: Nick Punto

Was there any doubt? When you make the #1 Web Gem on Baseball Tonight AND the #1 play of the day on SportsCenter, you're going to be the boyfriend. Seriously... AMAZING!

If anyone missed Baseball tonight, the Twins/Blue Jays came was the top 4 Web Gems. It was awesome. And we had two plays from the Twins on SportsCenter's Top 10.

Missed it. Hopefully it's out in cyberspace somewhere and I can see it. I was stuck at a church meeting last night, but at least it was at Dairy Queen.

What kind of church do you go to? Clearly I am not going to the right kind :)

Anoka Covenant Church. It's in....wait for it....wait for it....Anoka! It was a leadership team meeting (I'm the treasurer....money, money, money!) and we were missing a few people, so there were only about 5 of us.

Besides, we had to drown our sorrows in ice cream after a congregational vote to change the name of our church failed a couple weeks ago. The majority voted yes, but we had to have 2/3 approve, and we missed by about 8 votes.

Dairy Queen is a great way to have a meeting though!

What did you want to change the name to?

Bridge Community Church

A couple of reasons, anticipating the next question. ;-)

1. Our pastor went on a sabbatical a couple of years ago and came back with a new vision for our church which involves more outreach. The image God kept putting in his head is a bridge. The idea is that the church would be a bridge to the community, helping people across the gap between themselves and God. So, we've had a new campaign "Bridging the Gap" to raise funds outside of the normal budget to help fund some projects, including a new after-school club for kids.

2. We've found the name Covenant is not well known outside of the church population. Some people have confused it with a Coven, a Cult, etc (not kidding, these have actually happened). We wanted to remove any unintended barriers that people might have that would keep them from walking in the doors due to our name.

3. It's a name that our surveying has said is more approachable and enticing than our current name. The survey results said that when presented with both names, people were much more likely to visit a church called Bridge Community Church. Part of it seems to be that the current name sounds old-fashioned and not relevant to the younger generation.
