Gladys Hardy on The Ellen DeGeneres Show

A friend e-mailed this to me today and I find it hilarious! You have to watch the whole thing though, the best part is when Ellen calls her back. Good times :)

The Weekend

Well, this was the first TEC weekend in a year and a half that I didn't work. I got really lucky though, and got to be at the church for a lot of different things. The weekend started on Thursday when I dropped off my parents' video rockers for the Wheat Team to use. I think they've been used at almost every TEC since 61.

Then on Friday, I got to come to all 4 talks. Thanks to the Wheat Team for making me an Honorary Wheatie! I love the stole! It was amazing to watch the candidates change just in coming in for those 4 talks. To Nate, Brandon, Laura, and Rod... Your talks were amazing! Thanks for inviting me! After Rod's talk, Leah and I went out to dinner and then back to my house to watch a movie with Beth. Good times all around!

Saturday night was so much fun! We went to Agape and I patrolled the Conference Room while people signed place mats. We then headed to Perkins (the wrong one) and found it pretty much empty. So we drove way down to the other Perkins and met up with everyone! I got to meet lots of new people, so that's always fun.

After Perkins, a Wal-Mart run was necessary! Lacy bought the doll, Kyree bought the poster board, Abby bought the ribbon and the bib, I bought the bottles and pacifiers, and Leah was there for moral support :) I think that's right, anyway. Next up, back to my house to make the poster. Kyree did a wonderful job!

We then headed over to the church parking lot in search of Laura's car. On the way, we received word that the Talent Share was already over! Yikes! We went to work quickly and only had to hide once from people coming out of the church. It was freezing and I think all of our hands were numb, but it was uber fun! It was so windy that we knew stuff would blow off, I had to ask Sarah to make sure Laura saw her car, and quick. I think it worked :)

I think we stayed up in my basement talking till about 1:30. That's when I decided I should probably try to get at least a little sleep before work at 5:30. I was so sad that I could hear everyone laughing, but I couldn't join them.

Sunday brought about Talk #9 and Closing. All was completely amazing! I'm sad I wasn't there for the weekend, but am so blessed to have been able to be a part of it as much as I was!
I'm excited that there were so many Rochester and Stewartville candidates. Let's keep it growing!

Of course, the weekend ended with Perkins. Thankfully, we went to the right one this time. It was so great to see everyone, talk to everyone, and laugh with everyone. The reunion of our amazing TEC 65 Leadership was priceless. I love you all so much!

Today's Tidbit: At the moment, I have 3 working cell phones in my possession. Hmmm...

You've Got To Have Friends

Well, I have officially decided that I have the best friends in the entire world! Yesterday ended up being quite a depressing day. All of my plans couldn't happen because of the stupid snow. I was so disappointed. But then, all of my friends decided that we'd just keep celebrating all week long :)

I got to have breakfast with Laura. Then I went and had lunch with Matt and Rebecca. I talked to Nate online last night and he suggested lunch on Thursday before TEC starts with his car full. And I now hear that Mariah and possibly Laura are coming too.

You all will never know how much this means to me! Thanks so much, for everything!

Today's Tidbit: I watched two movies over the weekend that had Corgis in them! Woot woot :) One was "The Queen" and the other was "In Her Shoes."

Little Miss Sunshine

So over the weekend, Beth and I decided to rent a few movies. We were bored with our movie selection and figured, "What the heck?"

Inside Man
- This was a pretty good movie. I never pick the action movies myself, but for some reason, I always like the ones Beth picks for me to watch. I enjoyed it, although I didn't feel like there was much closure. Beth completely disagrees with me. I would recommend it, especially if you are a Denzel Washington fan.

V for Vendetta
- Nate has been bugging me to watch this movie FOREVER! When Beth and I went to Hollywood, I knew I should bite the bullet and just rent it. I'm really glad I did. Beth, our dad, and I bonded over it while we waited for my mom to bring Matt home from the airport. You really have to think and I probably should watch it again to make sure I got it all. When the movie ended, my dad asked if there was a book he could read so that it made more sense. And the answer is, try the graphic novel.

Little Miss Sunshine
- Okay, so Beth and I picked this one because of the buzz it's had for awards. It was up for several Golden Globes and it could be a dark horse for some Oscars. Although, it is not a front runner by any stretch. I LOVED this movie! I went right to Target to try and buy it, but they didn't have it. The horrors! Anyway, it's a great movie with a positive theme of family, love, and inspiring each other to not be "losers." Anyway, I would seriously recommend that everyone see this one!

Today's Tidbit: We went to return the movies tonight and rented three more. "The Piano", "Prime", and "The Producers". Apparently, we have a thing for P movies.

Uno!

I have been subbing for a teacher I know for the past three school days. I work with small groups of students, the most I have is three at a time. When the kids get all their work completed, they have a chance to play some different games. I have one student who is with me for 2 hours every day. He finished early every day and his favorite game is Uno. Let's just say that I've played enough Uno to last me quite some time.

As we played, I found that he plays with some rules I have never used. Of course, it could be me. Maybe they are very common Uno rules and I just don't know it.

- If someone puts down a Draw Two or Draw Four Wild Card, you draw your cards and that takes your turn away, you do not get to lay a card down.
- If you forget to yell "Uno!" when you're down to one card, you have to draw 7 cards.
- If you play a Reverse card, it only reverses it back one person, then goes back the way it was going to begin with. (Huh?)

Today's Tidbit: Sometimes I really hate being a nice person :P
