It's like trying to drive a toaster through a carwash

Today was a good day. It was a long day, but a good day. I watched the end of "Apollo 13" five times. And I cried four of those times. The only hour I didn't cry was 6th hour, no idea why. Maybe I was sick of it by then? And then in 8th hour, I actually sat down and watched it, so more tears. I really just teared up though, thank goodness. I don't even know that anyone noticed. Again, thank goodness!

I got to talk to Ashleigh and Kelly before school again. Yay! And the total number of yearbooks that I have signed is now up to 5. I think that's pretty impressive for just a sub :) Haha! Oh, and all the choir kids looked so nice today. They were all dressed-up for the concert tonight, awe.

I think I made some people in my classes mad today... So they had to write three problems each day (for a total of nine) that either NASA or the astronauts had. Then they wrote how the problem was addressed and solved. The assignment was up on the overhead all three days and it said right on there that it was due today. So I told them that's how I was taking attendance. Some of them were not very happy with me. Oh well. They paid attention better today than they had all week :) Gee, I wonder why.

I spent my lunch hour in the choir room again, but shock. And during 7th hour, I got to take my study hall (only 2 guys) down to the choir room for Panther Choir. After school, back in the choir room (where we found out that Lucy was my first-ever friend) And tonight, back to Century for the choir concert. Yay for choir!

Things I learned today:
* I am still the most emotional person on Earth!
* Lucy is always right.
* Dustin has a sister in Panther Choir.
* I like the choir kids the best.
* Megan and I could have been related! Um, almost?
* Licking the tip of a pen can bring it back to life (I actually already knew that, but I told someone to do it today and it worked).

Tiny Superhero

I have decided that the middle section of "Apollo 13" is really boring. I'm thinking tomorrow will be better because the end is pretty good. I'm scared I'll cry. Anyone want to place bets? I spent most of today making graduation cards. I think I got 13 done. I have a lot to go still though. Good thing I have tomorrow to finish them up. I would have made more, but I ran out of index cards.

I love that I have extra people coming to 8th hour. I must be some incredible teacher. Haha! Or they just want to watch the movie with us and it's better than whatever else they'd be doing. 8th hour is fun because I get to watch Tommy Yang sleep and wave and Dustin during the movie. Oh good times.

Here's my funny story for the day. At the start of my lunch hour, Mr. Larson came into the room. Now, Mr. Larson and I go way back. He was dating my teacher Ms. Jensen when I was in both 5th and 6th grade (yes, I had her two years because Elton Hills has combination classes). He lived in the cities back then, but would come down for "Science Day with Aaron." We would blow stuff up and have a great time. They got married the summer after 6th grade and he got a job at Mayo. I ended up having him for Physics at Century when I was a junior. I am probably one of the only people that had both of them as teachers.

Anyway, on with the story... He puts up pictures from all of his Physics classes. Most of them are from the Valley Fair trip every year. Well his boards are all full so they are going back to the beginning and covering the original pictures. He found a few of me and was telling his class that I was subbing next door. So I had to go look at these pictures and he even gave me one. I feel old!

And now onto the Twins game. I just finished watching it. The Twins played some darn good defense today. Not that you'd know that from looking at the Box Score. At least one of the plays better make Web Gems tonight or I'll be mad. I do think Lucy is right though, we haven't really deserved to win any of these games against Chicago. They seem to be self-destructing. But I don't really care, because we win! And now we're ahead of them in the standings.

Baker did not have a good outing. Eek! It was definitely the day of walks. That's totally how we won (literally). My B.O.D. might be a little controversial today. I could have gone with a lot of players, but I'm going to go with...

Boyfriend of the Day: Nick Punto

He didn't even have a hit today, but he did draw three walks. And that clearly was important today. We tired out their pitchers and got runs off of them. Yay! Plus, he was one of the outstanding defensive plays today. And, to top it off, he was the only Twin who didn't leave a runner on base. Ha! So here's to you, Uncle Tim's twin!

America's Favorite Past-time

Today was a pretty good day. I'm subbing at Century most of the week, so that always puts me in a pretty good mood. I got to see Kelly, Ashleigh, and Molly before school. It started my day off on the right foot :)

I'm teaching physics. Yeah, kind of hilarious. But it's all good. We're watching "Apollo 13." I haven't seen it in forever, and at least it's a good movie (as opposed to some dumb science movie). However, having to watch it five times, gets a little long :P

I hung-out outside the choir room for lunch. That was fun. I talked to Leon about baseball (he thinks my B.O.D. is weird, but I don't really care). I talked to Megan about Concordia and her and Lucy's calc video where they lit things on fire. I told her I was going to call Concordia and warn them that two pyros are coming to school there next year.

I got to look at a yearbook during one of the periods. That was fun. Some of the pictures in there are TINY! But it was still fun to check it out. I had a lot of kids I knew in class. I got to have Lindsey and Megan and Nicole and Katelyn and Tommy and Amy and the list goes on. It's always good when someone walks in and yells, "JANET!!!" Haha, I'm sure all the other kids are just confused. Good times.

Tommy and Dustin came down during 8th hour to watch the movie with us. It pretty much made my day. After school, I went back to the choir room. Dustin and Jehrid asked me to sign their yearbooks. That was kind of exciting. I haven't signed a yearbook in seven years :P And then I talked to Joe and Drew about Pirates and Star Wars and I don't remember what else.

And now on to the best team in baseball, my Twins! It was another slaughtering of the Sox. Heck yes! During tonight's game, Beth decided to nickname their pitchers. We have "The Terrorist", "Danks for Nothing", "Masset the Basset", and "Daniel Boone Logan". It was pretty entertaining.

Boyfriend of the Day: Justin Morneau

I'm going back to my fiance tonight. He had a great game. He went 3 for 4 with 1 run and 4 RBIs. Yay! I would also like to thank AJ for firing us up last night. Haha!

The piranhas are at it again

I had a good day. In fact, I had a great day. I woke-up and drove to Kasson. Laura and I had breakfast at a great little Perkins wanna-be restaurant called Daniel's. I would highly recommend it if you're ever in Kasson :) I think we probably annoyed the waitress because we sat there for over 3 hours. Haha! I always love talking to Laura, it was definitely a good morning. One of the highlights was when she called me a whore. Yeah, that was pretty much hilarious.

Let's see, what else has happened today. Oh yeah, my dog chewed up my bra. I got really mad and put him out in the backyard for a while. Lucy made me feel old :) Yeah, that was cool :P I fell asleep on the couch for about 10 minutes.

And I watched my Twins. Oh my WOW!!! What a game! We got 10 runs, but not a single homer. Can we say, Chicago had a rough day? Yes, I think so. Beth was really excited because they played the Jason-Jason-Jason line-up :) The Twins got hit after hit after hit. It was quite an impressive outing. Here are some stats for y'all.

Castillo - 1 hit, 1 sacrifice bunt, 1 run, 2 walks
Punto - 3 hits, 1 run, 2 RBIs, 1 walk, 2 stolen bases
Morneau - 1 run
Cuddyer - 1 hit, 1 run, 1 RBI, 2 walks
Hunter - 3 hits, 2 runs, 1 RBI, 1 stolen base, 1 AMAZING catch
Redmond - 2 hits (1 double), 1 run, 3 RBIs
Kubel - 2 doubles, 1 RBI, 1 DIVING catch
Bartlett - 1 hit, 2 runs, 1 stolen base
Tyner - 3 hits, 1 run, 1 RBI, 1 walk
Santana - 8 innings, 7 strike outs

I'd say I was probably the most disappointed in my own fiance. I know, it's shocking. Every time he had a bad at-bat, he'd swear up a storm. Oh goodness. Of course, I think he let AJ get in his head a little bit. What did we all think of that drama? I had to actually consider choosing Gardy as my B.O.D. for his fight with the umpires. I liked how all the commentators were super confused. During the post-game wrap, Ron Coomer actually said that Justin made too big of a deal about it and he should have just retaliated on his own. I believe he said that AJ should "at least take one in the rib cage." Yeah, pretty classic if you ask me.

Anyway, this leads to my...

Boyfriend of the Day: The Piranhas

I couldn't choose just one, so I chose them all. (And since I make-up my own rules, I can do that :P)

The piranhas are Nick Punto, Jason Tyner, Luis Castillo, and Jason Bartlett. Today they got on base 13 times out of 19 at-bats. That is just a great number. 8 hits, 4 runs, 3 RBIs (2 of which were on 2 outs, by the way), 3 stolen bases, they drew 4 walks, and hit a sacrifice bunt. Oh, and how can we forget Bartlett getting beaned by a pitch on 2 outs and that leading to a 3 run inning. Heck yes! All in a days work, I suppose.

That's my boyfriend

Today was a very relaxing Sunday. It's so much easier to enjoy the day when I know that I don't have to work tomorrow. No school. No coaching. And I get to see Laura. It will definitely be a good Memorial Day. Plus, today was pretty good too. I got up around 10:30 and didn't really do anything until 2:00 when I met Lucy at Dunn Brothers for lemonade. I'm glad we got to talk, even though it was only for a little while.

After I got home, I watched the Twins game. Holy wow did they ever have a good game. I am SO glad that I moxied it and could watch the super exciting plays that my fiance made. I'm really glad that Punto has had some hits in the last few games. And Silva pitched pretty well today, I'll give him that. Joe Nathan picks up another save. It was a good game all around.

Boyfriend of the Day: Justin Morneau

This was such an easy choice. A 2 run homer, 3 RBIs, and 2 outstanding defensive pick-ups. And if any of you watched the "In My Own Words" special with Justin, you heard him mention his girlfriend. Yeah, that was clearly me :P

Alright, and finally today... I want to compile a list of the nicknames we all have for our favorite Twins players. I expect lots of comments on this one, folks!

Jason Bartlett - Jason Pear
Michael Cuddyer - Cuddy
Jason Kubel - Jason Couger
Joe Mauer - Hubby #2
Justin Morneau - My fiance, Hubby
Pat Neshek - Neshekel
Nick Punto - Tiny Superhero (totally stole that one from Lucy)
Jason Tyner - Just Jason, Jason Jason

Go to town, people :)

Adventures in O-Town

We had a very fun-filled day in Owatonna today. It was full of laughter and tears (from the laughter, of course). And all sorts of other fun stuff.

Beth and I met Matt at OHS around 6:30. Our first plan was to go feed the ducks at Morehouse Park. Before we could do that, we had to stop at Kwik Trip to buy a loaf of bread. When we got to the park, it was super crowded. Okay, scratch that idea. We saw a sign for a state park 6 miles out of town, so we drove there instead.

When we got there, we had to pay to get in. I walked into the rangers station with our $5. I totally got hit on by the ranger who was working in there. He was very persistent about some astronomy club thing that night. He really wanted me to come. Haha! Anyway, once that was done... We parked the car and decided to go on a hike. I think we walked most of the "Hiking Club" trail. It was fun. We took random pictures of Kwikery (that's what we named the loaf of bread) and Howie. We even tried some forced perspective shots because Beth wanted to. Our prized piece is called "Girl and Dog Contemplating Lake."

We also decided today that I'm a... Well, I'm something that I can't say in the blog world. But maybe you'll get the gist of it. Let's count my boyfriends, shall we?

#1 - Justin Morneau (I'm still not sure when the wedding is...)
#2 - Joe Mauer (We just have a side thing going on.)
#3 - Park Ranger boyfriend (Yeah, we just met today :P)
#4 - Matt (Apparently we have an engagement picture now?)
#5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 (The Twins that have been B.O.D.s.)

After the park, we went to Target. We wanted to visit Mariah, but she wasn't working. She's never working when I'm in O-Town. So then Matt and I tried to ditch Beth, but she found us. We bought two new games and headed over to Happy Chef. Pretty much right after we sat down, Laura called. So she and Nate came to join us. We played a rousing game or two of Zigity (a Cranium card game). It was pretty fun. Except for the fact that I kept having to draw a crap-load of cards. Thank you very much, Matt and Beth.

Next up, we played a game called Loot. Since we had all seen Pirates 3 earlier this weekend, we were in the mood. It's actually a really fun game. I'm pretty sure I lost, but that's okay.

Some funny stories from Happy Chef... First of all, I guess Matt told Laura that if she were a bug, she'd be a praying mantis. He said so because she prays a lot and because they're the only bug that tend toward left-handedness. As he was telling us this, Beth said, "Don't they eat their mates?" She and I immediately looked at Nate and then busted up laughing. It took a while before we could tell the others what was so funny.

There was also a point in the night when Nate was talking about the movie "The Goonies." For some reason, I thought he had said, "Grease." I was so lost when he started talking about a ship leaving. He mumbles. Enough said. And, the highlight of the night... As we were paying, Beth tried to reach through the display case to touch something. Yeah, Beth. It's called glass! It was pretty huh-larious!

Matt and Beth kept making fun of me for listening to the Twins game on the radio. I can't believe the game went to 13 innings. We're going to be tired tomorrow! I'm definitely disappointed that we couldn't eek this one out, but such is life. For the second day in a row...

Boyfriend of the Day: Michael Cuddyer

Hello! He had a 2 run homer and 5 RBIs tonight. That is incredibly impressive.

My feelings for Ortiz definitely went down even more tonight. How long are we going to keep this kid? Grr. And, I'm confused. I saw an interview with Torii Hunter after last night's game. He was talking about how Johan would pitch on Sunday. But on the Twins website, the probable pitcher for tomorrow is Silva. That makes me very, and I do mean very, nervous.

Disney Sing-A-Longs

It seems like every time Beth and I are in the car together, we inevitably end up having a Disney sing-a-long. Our ride home from Owatonna tonight was no different. I'll be blogging about my adventure in O-Town in just a minute... But first, you get some fun Disney lyrics. I don't know what my deal was. I think I was maybe tired. I was singing things totally wrong. I know the lyrics, I have known them for a long time. But tonight, they were totally coming out wrong.

Instead of "Get off my case."
I said, "Get off my face."

Instead of "One jump ahead of the breadline."
I said, "One jump ahead of the bread man."

Instead of "Hot crustacean band."
I said, "Half-crustacean band."

Instead of "But fish in the bowl is lucky."
I said, "But fish in the boat is lucky."

And that's all she wrote...

Is 3 the best number?

It is clearly the summer of the triquals. That's totally a made up word, but all is good. So far, we've seen Spiderman 3, Shrek the Third, and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (the third one). Later in the summer we're going to have Ocean's 13, The Bourne Ultimatum, and Rush Hour 3. I haven't seen either of the first two Rush Hour movies, but I thought I better include it because it does fit the topic :)

Of the three that I have seen so far, I'd say that Shrek is the best. It was pretty funny. I enjoyed Spiderman 3 for what it was, but it's pretty much the same as the other two. And I really hated the whole Peter goes Emo thing... Grr... Pirates was decent. I really do hate that you can't think too hard about the Pirates movies. They are so inconsistent and they really don't make any sense. Plus, Beth and I had to re-write the ending to keep our sanity :P I am definitely excited for Ocean's 13 and The Bourne Ultimatum. And who can forget that in July we have the 5th Harry Potter movie and the final book! Whoo hoo!

Random Facts about yesterday...

* I went to bed at 5:30 in the morning. The sun was coming up, the birds were singing, and the morning news was on...

* It is much easier to write down all 50 states in alphabetical order once you know the song. I'm glad I taught myself the song.

* The Junior Group worked really hard at their workout.

* Parents take way too little of children to see Shrek. Seriously, what is wrong with people? Why waste the money?

* I saw one of my middle name twins at Pirates. Yay for Amanda!

* I had to kill a really gross bug that was on the ceiling. It left it's juice all over the place. Beth & Tim were freaking out.

* Best Week Ever was actually funny this week.

* The Soup makes me happy :)

* I love the Twins!

Speaking of the Twins... Onto my commentary on the game. I thought Baker pitched decently. It certainly was not as good as his last start, but I suppose they can't all be that impressive. Once again, our bullpen is amazing. Both Guerrier and Neshek did their thing. With all of the injuries, at least these two are stepping up. And Nathan picks up another save... Although, he's still not my favorite. Sorry.

On the offensive side of things... Well... We left a lot of people on base. Yikes! But, we won the game. So I can't really complain too much. Both my fiance and Hunter had an RBI and then Cuddyer hit a two run homer in the fifth inning. Which is why he's my...

Boyfriend of the Day: Michael Cuddyer

I wanted so badly to pick Tiny Superhero as my boyfriend today. I was so impressed with his fielding. Of course, I really always am, but I wanted to recognize him for it today. But once Cuddyer hit the homer, I just had to give him the nod... The day will come again soon for him though. Don't give up hope.

Make fun of Janet day...

Today was an interesting day... I didn't sub, which I think was okay. I slept until noon! Holy what? Yeah, noon. I didn't even realize that I was that tired. And I wasn't up all that late last night, either. I slept for 12 hours, now that's crazy!

I didn't do much all afternoon, but then I had to go work at the pool for 4 hours! I would like to thank Alex & Dan for providing me with entertainment. I still love Alex's rabbit joke. Oh man, I thought for sure I was in trouble when he started drawing the "hollowed out log."

Beth and I passed the time by writing out all the presidents. We also wrote who died in office and who was assassinated. After that, we did the 50 states. We included all the postal abbreviations and the capitals. My favorite part of this was when we were stuck on Maryland. I asked some of the swimmers what the capital was. KJ's response: "Delaware!" HAHA, I haven't laughed that hard in a while :)

And onto a change of subject... So lately people have been making fun of me for things I say or for the way I say things. It got me thinking. I do say some things pretty funnily (is that a word?). I totally don't take offense to any of this, by the way. So feel free to add other things that I say strangely in the comments :)

#1 - "Clearly"
I apparently say it a lot. I never realized this until Sarah brought it up. She also told me today that clearly the world clearly needed to be a part of this list.

#2 - "Oh Mylanta!"
I have said this for quite a while now. I didn't think it was all that funny, but clearly other people do.

#3 - "Holy Batman!"
This one is a little newer, but I must say it a lot because
I had a parent of one of my swimmers come up to me recently and say that their kid says it all the time now. Haha!

#4 - "Seriously"
I totally picked this one up from "Grey's Anatomy" along with half the country...

#5 - "Huh-larious!"
I never knew that I said this funny. Beth and Sarah were making fun of me for it on Monday night. I guess I really draw out the "huh" and then add on the "larious." After they talked about it, now I notice it all the time...

#6 - "I love it!"
This was already pointed out by good old Uncle Tim in his blog... I do notice myself saying it a lot. I guess I have a lot of love to go around.

I'm not sure if this is all that funny, but Matt and I were just talking about it. At Big 9, Laura, Matt, and Rebecca were trying to find me a boyfriend. They found a prospective one and were giving me looks. Then Laura said, "Oh wait, he has a ring." And I said, "I know, I already looked." It is clearly the first thing I notice about guys these days :)

You want me to teach what?

Today I taught Chemistry. I haven't taken Chemistry since I was a sophomore in high school. That was nine years ago! And actually, we were on block scheduling back then so I only had it first semester. But that's okay, I had a pretty decent day at Century. The day started off pretty boring, so I owe a HUGE thank you to Lucy, she knows why...

After school, I talked to Lucy for a little while and then came home. I was only here for about 20 minutes and then I went to Dunn Brother's to meet up with Kelly and her youth director, Chris. I am just going to say that I really can't believe what high schoolers have to deal with these days. I am inspired by so many of them. And they simply have no idea. I pray that I can have the kind of courage I have seen in some of my friends this week.

I coached tonight, but was really not in a very good mind-set. I feel pretty overwhelmed today. I feel so helpless. I don't know, I always wish I could do more than I can, I think. It's probably a character flaw. I just keep praying for everyone involved in all of these situations.

Anyway... Onto the Twins game. We won again! Woot woot :) It's nice that we've won the last two series. It sucks that we went 4-5 on this road trip, but after starting 0-3, I'm going to focus on the fact that we went 4-2 in the last 6 games.

I was very impressed with our pitching. Bonser kept pushing through some tough at bats, he gave us 5 solid innings. I'd like it to be more, but his pitch count went way high way fast. Guerrier pitched 2 outstanding innings with no earned runs. And Neshek got us out of a really tough spot. Then we had Joe Nathan in his first save opportunity since May 5th. And he did it even after getting hit with a broken bat! And now... Drum roll please...

Boyfriend of the Day: Luis Castillo

He was 3 for 5 today with a run and an RBI. Gotta love that!

Being Patriotic

Today was a great day. Not gonna lie. Sarah got here late last night. We stayed up watching the season finale of "24", playing DS, and chit-chatting (until about 4 AM, for the record). We got up this morning and brought Jennie lunch at school. Jennie introduced me to the director of Kingdom Kids and I picked up an application. Yay!

Sarah and I then spent the afternoon playing Wii Sports. We are clearly the best at bowling. I was alright at the shooting part of golf, but horrible at putting. Boxing is quite the workout. And I suck at both baseball and tennis. It was really fun though.

We had dinner at Bruegger's and then headed up to Century for the choir concert. I thought they did really well. I'm definitely glad that we went. It was fun to talk to everyone after the concert, too. I can't wait for the Concert Choir's final concert/tour send-off next Thursday.

Me & Sarah after the concert

Jehrid, Brittany, & Me

Me & Lucy - Go Cobbers!

On to the Twins game... I got home from the concert and kept hearing stats from the game. I knew that we had won, but I still wanted to watch it. I had, of course, moxied the game. Moxied is totally not a word, but I don't really care. Anyway, I watched it just now. AMAZING!

Boyfriend of the Day: Justin Morneau

Like there was any doubt on this one. Nate predicted that I would choose him. Becky also hinted at it :) Seriously 5 RBIs on 2 home runs! And the 3 run homer came on 2 outs... Incredible! Santana did pitch a very strong game. 13 strikeouts and only 1 earned run. Very impressive.

Will wedding bells soon be ringing?

I posted this on facebook, but then had a request to also post it here. So here is the wall-to-wall conversation between my friends Sarah & Dan. I find it pretty amusing. Dan is the one who started this whole rumor in the first place. But I would just like to thank everyone for keeping it alive, truly :P

Sarah: Dan- When is Janet's wedding? If you are going to be the wedding planner you need to communicate with the bride! :)

Dan: i have been secretly planning janet's wedding, she just doesn't know it yet...;)

Sarah: oh no, she knows, just none of the details and if it's next weekend she's busy! :)

Dan: i see, well, we'll work something out, i'm a pretty smart kid. don't worry.

Sarah: Did you see that her fiance broke his nose ... you need to postpone the wedding until after the season!

Dan: i guess that'll be okay...but i want to get it overwith, it's a lot of stress on me...

Sarah: a lot of stress on you have you talked to the bride! She doesn't even know what's going on how stressed do you think that she is! :)

Dan: hmm...she better not have cold feet.

B.O.D.

Boyfriend of the Day: TC

I am so not even going there after tonight's game, or should I say massacre?!? Not one player with more than one hit, not one with more than one RBI, not one that deserves to be my boyfriend at all tonight. And don't even get me started on the pitching. Oh my goodness! I am going with TC. I am sure that he hugged some kids, took some pictures, and gave away some free t-shirts. So TC, way to go!

P.S. Who the heck is DePaula?!?

Manic Monday

Well after 16 days of subbing for Lore this year, we finally hit an all-time low. Holy cow, were they ever bad today. They gave me a false sense of contentment this morning. They were amazing. But after lunch, it all went out the window. I am not sure how I am even still alive, really. They were awful. I was almost in tears and so was the CAP student who was in the room with me. YIKES!!!

But, as all the teachers told me, I survived. And after school I got to chat with Brooke and Laurie and Heidi. To recap, Brooke is who I'll be subbing for next year and Laurie and Heidi are two of the other Kindergarten teachers. Though I found out today that Heidi will be gone for the next two years supervising for the Graduate Induction Program and there will be GIP teachers in her room. Sad :( I know that I'll get along really well with Laurie though and I'm super excited to work with her.

The other good things that came out of today... Suzanne (one of the other 2nd grade teachers) asked me if I'd done Ventures yet. It's part of the interview process in Rochester. When I said that I hadn't, she said that we'd have to change that. I think she's going to make some calls on my behalf, so that's really nice. And the other thing was that Tim's mom told me I looked like a "real teacher" with my hair up the way it was :) Yay for Carol!

I'm off to the pool. And then I'm having coffee with Joe, though neither of us drinks coffee so we'll probably have some other beverage. And then I will come home and clean a bit before Sarah gets here around midnight. Oh what a good night it will be!

Slumber Party!

I hope that I never get too old for slumber parties. They are so much fun! Last night I got to slumber party it up with my favorite girls. We had it at Sarah's house and it was Sarah, Beth, Amy, Jill, Emmalee, Amanda, and me. It was a super fun night. My stomach still hurts from laughing so hard.

We definitely got some good talking in, which is always one of my favorite things. We also played a lot of games. Sarah taught us how to play Bang! It's actually an Italian game (or so we think because the cards are all in Italian with English underneath). I really liked the game. I really want to play it again sometime. And maybe with people that actually get into it and learn how to play. *Cough* Emmalee *Cough* Haha, just kidding! I love you, dear :)

During this game, we all totally had our minds in the gutter. Okay, all of us but Emmalee. You're going to have to ask Amanda for all the quotes of the night... "Another round, Barkeep!"

We also played Cranium: Turbo (which Beth, Amy, & Emmalee won) and a Disney Trivia game (which Sarah, Amanda, Jill, & I won - although Amanda & Jill were asleep). Sarah, Emmalee, and I stayed up talking until about 6 o'clock this morning. I got up at 8 to drive back to Rochester to make it to church this morning at 11. Oh, good times. I am pretty much dead right now.

Church this morning was good. I saw Michaela and Christina and Lucy and Joe. Michaela and Christina's dad even introduced me to one of the pastors. It was pretty much a stellar morning. Then I got to spend 5 hours at the swimming banquet. Yikes! But it was fun to see everyone. And I only cried a few times. It was a big improvement over my bawling at last year's banquet.

Alright, that's about all I'm going to write at the moment. I think it's about time for a nap or something... But I can't forget the ever-important B.O.D.

Boyfriend of the Day: Michael Cuddyer

I'm ending my streak of pitchers today. Clearly I am not going to give my heart to Ortiz on this sad, sad day. I guess I should be happy because we did win the series against the Brewers. But we should have won today. We were up 5-2 at one point, for crying out loud! Anyway, I'm giving the nod today to Cuddyer because he hit a 2 run homer on 2 outs. Way to go, Cuddy!

Boyfriend of the Day

I don't have much time to blog right now, but I wanted to post my B.O.D. before the next game starts in 30 minutes. Tonight I will blog about my super fun slumber party! For now, be consoled with my love interest from yesterday's game...

Boyfriend of the Day: Scott Baker

First of all, Aaron threatened me. But in all seriousness, wow was I plesantly surprised with how Baker pitched. 8 1/3 innings, with only two earned runs on six hits and five strike outs. Job well done! (It only took how many call-ups to the majors to pitch well?!?)

It's the weekend!

The first order of business... I learned today that sunscreen is a necessity in the subbing bag! I am completely fried. My forearms, back, chest, and face are as red as my correcting pen. The best part is that I have a nice, white strip where my lanyard was. I look ridiculous! So yay for having to work in the morning and see lots of swimming lessons parents?

I do not think I will sub for Phy. Ed. again. It wasn't so bad when I did it this winter. But being inside and being outside are two completely different animals! The best part of my day was my lunch break. I went to Brooke's classroom to watch her do calendar and opening. It was pretty fun. I really, really love watching her teach.

It is now (technically) Saturday. I am hopeful that the curse of the bad weeks is now over! For me, I'm pretty sure it is. I cannot wait for the next few days :)

Saturday - I get to see my favorite girls for our slumber party at Sarah's house. And I just found out that we're all going to be there, our little group. It's Sarah, Beth, and me for the adults. And then Amy, Amanda, Jill, and Emmalee. I cannot wait to see everyone (and play two-handed Lynch Mob perhaps?)!

Sunday - I am planning to go to FPC for church and then we have our swimming banquet. I like the older kids banquet because I get to see everyone, but I don't have to do any of the presenting ;)

Monday - I'm subbing for my "class from hell" again. I hope they earn their treat this time. It's been a really long time since they have. Plus, I get to bring Laura's letter to them. It's so cute and I love it and I can't wait to read it to them! And on Monday night, Sarah's coming to stay over. Yay!

Tuesday - I get to hang-out with Sarah all day. Then she and I are going to the Century Choir Concert. I am so excited; I've been excited for a really long time and it's finally here. I actually think I am most looking forward to hearing "America" from West Side Story.

Oh man, and to top all of that exciting stuff off... Drum roll please... THE TWINS WON TODAY!!! ALERT THE MEDIA!!! It was a really fun game to watch. I think there were more Twins fans at the game that Milwaukee fans. They were so loud; it was great! Which leads me to the ever-anticipated...

Boyfriend of the Day: Boof Bonser

I had a really hard time choosing today. I could have made arguments for Jeff Cirillo (An RBI triple and a 2 run homer) or Torii Hunter (A grand slam that put us ahead!). But I have to go with Boof on this one. What a game from him! Seriously... He pitched 7 great innings, only allowed 1 run on 3 hits, and had 11 strikeouts! He was on fire tonight and I was way impressed. We definitely needed the offense too, but I'm giving the nod to Boof tonight. (Batgirl picked Torii, if anyone cares.)

TV Finales

Yesterday was MUCH better than the day before. Subbing at EH in the morning went just fine. Deb ended up e-mailing some thrown together plans to another teacher, so that made it much easier. While I was there, I got called to sub for a 1st grade class at Bamber in the afternoon. I've already been in the class, so it was pretty easy.

"The Office" season finale was amazing! If you haven't seen it yet, go watch it! I have to say, I have been pretty impressed with the finales this season. "CSI:NY" was really, really good and "Gilmore Girls" did a fantastic job with their series finale. I cried through most of it. I haven't gotten a chance to watch the "Grey's Anatomy" finale, but I'm scared I'll be upset with it... And I'm excited for "American Idol" and "24" next week!

Boyfriend of the Day: Johan Santana

Like there was any doubt about this one. Johan finally pitches a good game (okay, that was harsh), and we can't get him any runs on offense. Urgh! When I headed into school it was scoreless in the 6th inning. It was very disappointing to find out we lost :(

Off to school...

Yesterday was truly one of those terrible, horrible, no good, very bad days. I'm not really sure what it was, but nothing seemed to go right. There is certainly no use dwelling on it though, today will be a better day.

So I am pretty used to waking up to a phone call in the morning, but usually it is just the automated subfinder. It doesn't really matter if I am coherent or not. Well, the phone rang at 6:45 this morning and I didn't recognize the number. I was definitely assuming it was subfinder. I mean really, who else would it be at that time of morning?!? It was not subfinder. It was a teacher that I know asking me to sub this morning. She sounds terrible, so I suppose it was alright that I was still asleep. Now I get to go sub with no plans because she was not at all expecting to be gone today. We'll see how this goes.

I was at Bamber on Tuesday and I'm there tomorrow. I'm at Elton Hills today. Do we all realize what this means?!? You got it, no Century at all this week :( I have subbed at Century at least once a week for the last four weeks. It's weird not to see the choir kids. Don't distress though, I'm going to their concert next Tuesday. And Sarah's coming with me, yay!

Boyfriend of the Day: Nick Punto

I think I see why Batgirl only picks a B.O.D. when we win. It's tricky when we don't. However, I'm going with Punto on this one. He had the only RBI in the game and it came on 2 outs. I'm always impressed with that.

My first boyfriend

So I blogged recently about how Lucy introduced me to "Batgirl." Oh how I love this blog. I get all excited to read it every day. I still need to go back and read some of the older stuff. But there is just so much of it; it's a little overwhelming. Maybe a lot overwhelming. I haven't figured out all of her nicknames yet, but hopefully I will soon.

She sometimes picks a B.O.D. or Boyfriend of the Day. I pretty much love that, so I'm stealing the idea. Of course, I decided yesterday afternoon to start today. And I get last night's game to start with, oh come on! It was no bueno. Anyway... I have decided to remove my "Today's Tidbit" because I have a hard time thinking of something to put there. Usually, I just put it in the blog itself. So, at least for the baseball season, you get a "Boyfriend of the Day" instead. I know, I know, you can hardly contain your excitement :)

I really have nothing else exciting for you all today.

Boyfriend of the Day: Justin Morneau

I know you are all completely shocked that my fiance is my first pick. I had a tough choice between him and Cuddyer, but I had to go with Justin because he hit two home runs in the game last night! Yes, two! And, yesterday was his birthday, he's now 26.

Addition: Batgirl only selects a B.O.D. on wins, but I'm going to do it for every game... Well, at least that's my goal. I should also note that she has a whole big competition with it and scoring system. You can read about that on her blog. I am simply choosing a player who stood out in the game to me. It's really nothing like her B.O.D. I guess I'm just stealing the name :)

What would you do?

I got this e-mail from a friend today. I'm sure some of you got it too. I don't often read forwards, but I took the time for this one. Not that this will surprise any of you, but I cried most of the way through it. I'd like to think that I could show the kindness and compassion that these boys show, but I'm not so sure. I know that I judge others or look the other way. Thank God for His grace or I would be in serious trouble. Take a few minutes and read this story. It's full of such hope and love.

At a fund raising dinner for a school that serves learning-disabled children, the father of one of the students delivered a speech that would never be forgotten by all who attended. After extolling the school and its dedicated staff, he offered a question: "When not interfered with by outside influences, everything nature does is done with perfection. Yet my son, Shay, cannot learn things as other children do. He cannot understand things as other children do. Where is the natural order of things in my son?"

The audience was stilled by the query.

The father continued. "I believe, that when a child like Shay, physically and mentally handicapped comes into the world, an opportunity to realize true human nature presents itself, and it comes in the way other people treat that child."

Then he told the following story:

Shay and his father had walked past a park where some boys Shay knew were playing baseball. Shay asked, "Do you think they'll let me play?" Shay's father knew that most of the boys would not want someone like Shay on their team, but the father also understood that if his son were allowed to play, it would give him a much-needed sense of belonging and some confidence to be accepted by others in spite of his handicaps.

Shay's father approached one of the boys on the field and asked (not expecting much) if Shay could play. The boy looked around for guidance and said, "We're losing by six runs and the game is in the eighth inning. I guess he can be on our team and we'll try to put him in to bat in the ninth inning."

Shay struggled over to the team's bench and, with a broad smile, put on a team shirt. His Father watched with a small tear in his eye and warmth in his heart. The boys saw the father's joy at his son being accepted. In the bottom of the eighth inning, Shay's team scored a few runs but was still behind by three. In the top of the ninth inning, Shay put on a glove and played in the right field. Even though no hits came his way, he was obviously ecstatic just to be in the game and on the field, grinning from ear to ear as his father waved to him from the stands. In the bottom of the ninth inning, Shay's team scored again. Now, with two outs and the bases loaded, the potential winning run was on base and Shay was scheduled to be next at bat.

At this juncture, do they let Shay bat and give away their chance to win the game? Surprisingly, Shay was given the bat. Everyone knew that a hit was all but impossible because Shay didn't even know how to hold the bat properly, much less connect with the ball.

However, as Shay stepped up to the plate, the pitcher, recognizing that the other team was putting winning aside for this moment in Shay's life, moved in a few steps to lob the ball in softly so Shay could at least make contact. The first pitch came and Shay swung clumsily and missed. The pitcher again took a few steps forward to toss the ball softly towards Shay. As the pitch came in, Shay swung at the ball and hit a slow ground ball right back to the pitcher.

The game would now be over. The pitcher picked up the soft grounder and could have easily thrown the ball to the first baseman. Shay would have been out and that would have been the end of the game.

Instead, the pitcher threw the ball right over the first baseman's head, out of reach of all team mates. Everyone from the stands and both teams started yelling, "Shay, run to first! Run to first!" Never in his life had Shay ever run that far, but he made it to first base. He scampered down the baseline, wide-eyed and startled.

Everyone yelled, "Run to second, run to second!" Catching his breath, Shay awkwardly ran towards second, gleaming and struggling to make it to the base. By the time Shay rounded towards second base, the right fielder had the ball... The smallest guy on their team who now had his first chance to be the hero for his team. He could have thrown the ball to the second-baseman for the tag, but he understood the pitcher's intentions so he, too, intentionally threw the ball high and far over the third-baseman's head. Shay ran toward third base deliriously as the runners ahead of him circled the bases toward home.

All were screaming, "Shay, Shay, Shay, all the way Shay!"

Shay reached third base because the opposing shortstop ran to help him by turning him in the direction of third base, and shouted, "Run to third! Shay, run to third!"

As Shay rounded third, the boys from both teams, and the spectators, were on their feet screaming, "Shay, run home! Run home!" Shay ran to home, stepped on the plate, and was cheered as the hero who hit the grand slam and won the game for his team.

"That day," said the father softly with tears now rolling down his face, "the boys from both teams helped bring a piece of true love and humanity into this world."

Shay didn't make it to another summer. He died that winter, having never forgotten being the hero and making his father so happy, and coming home and seeing his Mother tearfully embrace her little hero of the day!
Today's Tidbit: I'm super frustrated with subfinder right now because it won't let me cancel a job. Usually, I can cancel anything up to an hour before the job. I have no idea why both last night and tonight it has locked up jobs that are over 12 hours away. Grr!

And it was good

It was a good day. Actually, it's just been a really good weekend so far. Let's start with last night. We had our TEC 67 Wheat Team family reunion. Oh, good times. Let's see, it was Nate, Alyssia, Aaron, Emily, Anna, Eric, Corey, and me. Plus Beth and Matt, of course. I thought it was really fun.

We played Cranium Turbo first (while we watched the end of the Twins game). They put Beth, Matt, and me on the same team. We won despite the fact that Matt struggled with spelling Mohawk backwards. I love that game.

Next up, a Scene-It tournament. We drew for teams. I was with Nate, Aaron, Alyssia, and Corey. We played the Sports version first. We led the whole game, but they won at the end because we were too nice. Basically, they probably answered a question wrong, but we let them have it. Next up, the Harry Potter version. This time, they led the whole game, but we came back to win at the end on a question about Platform 9 3/4. Ha! And finally, the regular movie version. It was a very close, very intense game. But in the end, Beth's team pulled it out (big shock, I know!). Emily came through in the clutch with "Breakfast Club."

After Scene-It, the girls got in the hot tub and the boys played Wii. Girl time is always fun, so that was good. After we changed into our pajamas, it was finally time for the best game ever known to man... LYNCH MOB!!! We played for at least a couple of hours. Oh how I love that game! I think my favorite two rounds of it were when I was teamed up with Emily. We were a pretty amazing team. The first time, she was the doctor and I was the marshal. It came out right away and she kept saving me. Then either the next game or just a few later, we were criminals together and we took out the marshal and won! Yay us :) I also really enjoyed the time when Matt and I were criminals together and we played Rock-Paper-Scissors to decide between killing Eric and Nate. We killed Eric and he was the marshal so we won. It was quite exciting and everyone that was already dead was cracking up while we did it.

I think I finally fell asleep around 6 o'clock this morning. Yay for being up 24 hours. I slept on the couch upstairs so I would hear Aaron leave. But I didn't, and because of it, he has a lovely picture of me sleeping on his phone. Oh boy. At 9:30, Anna and Emily woke me up and we all went to Perkins for breakfast.

Everyone sort of went their separate ways after that. Anna, Alyssia, Emily, and I headed to St. Charles for Aaron's baseball game. I should point out that he hadn't slept at all. He stayed up all night playing Wii and then had a double-header. Crazy stuff. We made it there for the second game. It was really fun and we were (I'm sure) obnoxious and embarrassing. He got to pinch run once and then play left field for one inning! Buc Pride! They won, it was good.

I went to my parents' house to clean up the basement and then finally made it home about 4 o'clock this afternoon. I watched the game. I looked on in horror when my fiance got hit with a ball and broke his nose! Yikes! And then I took a 3 hour nap on the couch.

Today's Tidbit: I am incredibly sunburned from the game, but it's really only the left side of my body. Whoops! I guess I should have used the sunscreen that Aaron's mom had...

I got the job!

I just got an e-mail from Brooke that says we are a "go" for next year. The principal e-mailed one of the secretaries to let HR know that I'm the sub. Oh my goodness, I am so excited!

In other news... I subbed at Century today. I had a class of juniors and seniors first hour. It went pretty well. I always feel bad because when I sub, they have to do really boring stuff. Then, I had four classes of sophomores. They had to write a test with 20 multiple choice questions. Almost no one finished. I would be mad except that they worked quietly the whole time.

After I was done with that, I went to the choir room and hung-out. I mostly talked to Lucy and Joe. Lucy told me to check out a blog about the Twins, so I did. And she's right, it's really funny. So I linked to it :)

I'm uber excited for the Wheat Team Family Reunion that's happening tonight. Yay! In 6.5 hours, the fun will begin :)

Today's Tidbit: The Twins are making me sad lately :( But I am not now, nor have I ever been, a fair weather fan. Go Twins!

Lovin' Kindergarten

Since I am sure you are all waiting with bated breath (or not), I figured I better blog quick about my afternoon in Kindergarten...

I'll start by saying that my morning really, really sucked. I cried for like an hour and then stopped and then cried some more when I told Beth about it. But then I had to get up and ready to head over to Bamber.

I got to help the kids make their Mother's Day presents (because there is no afternoon Kindergarten tomorrow), I got to read them their story for the day (which was really singing because it was to the tune of Old MacDonald), and we had some Spiderman cupcakes for a birthday treat. Brooke said it was one of the craziest days she's had all year and said she hoped she didn't scare me off. It was a blast! And I definitely know that this is what I want to do with my life.

Brooke is due in the middle of June, so there is a chance that she would need me to start at the end of this year. It's not very likely, but she wanted to make sure it was okay with me if it did happen. I didn't actually get to meet with the principal today because she wasn't there. Brooke told me that she thinks it's a done deal though. Hopefully I can sign the contract soon.

I'm really excited and I can't wait to (sort of) have my own classroom. I really hope this is a good way for me to get my foot in the door. And if any of you want to come visit my classroom next fall, you definitely should :)

Today's Tidbit: Matt's on his way home for the summer as I write this! Yay!

Today

So today was a pretty good day. And due to the lack of blog-worthy events in my life, I'm just going to tell you about it. I didn't sub today because I had breakfast with Gary! Yay! We went to Panera and had bagels. They were yummy and it was really nice to chat with Gary.

I didn't do much this afternoon. I did some laundry and watched some TV with Beth. I took a 2 hour nap on the couch and then I went to work. I was feeling generous, so I let my kids play Swimopoly instead of doing a hard practice. They love me :P

After practice, Beth and I went to Hy-Vee to pick up some groceries. It was like Century Choir night there or something :) On the way in, we ran into Connie. So I stopped and talked to her for a few minutes. And then I saw two choir kids working too. Anyway, we got our groceries and came home.

There wasn't really anything exciting today, but that's okay. It was just a nice, relaxing day. Sure, there were about 5.2 million things I could have done, but it was really nice to just sit.

So last night, Beth and I happened to catch the very end of The Best Damn Sports Show's 50 Best Bloopers. The tiny montage we saw at the end was so funny that we decided to record it. Since then, we have watched it twice and we're saving it on Moxie to watch again and again. It's the best pick-me-up ever. It is seriously one of the funniest things I have ever seen. I would highly recommend it! I think my favorites are the gymnast (which is #1 on the countdown), the cheerleader getting taken out by the football team, and the football player who's pants get pulled down. Oh man, it's pretty darn classic!

Today's Tidbit: I'm getting more and more nervous for tomorrow by the second. I know that I shouldn't be nervous, but I am. Not gonna lie. I don't interview well and I never have. Even though this isn't a formal interview or anything, I'm still freaking out. So if you could just say a little prayer, that would be amazing! I'm sure that I will blog about it soon :)

A lesson in physics

Are we all ready for a physics lesson? Good, because you're about to get one.

Lesson Learned: A box that is half-full will glide down the stairs like a a slide. A box that is full will tip over and everything will go flying!

So Beth had quite the day today. She had to go down to Paper Tiger and pick up 3,000 copies of the summer registration form for our swimming lessons. She got home with two boxes. One was full and the other was about half-full. She was bringing them downstairs to sort them into piles for each of the elementary schools. Now, Paper Tiger is awesome and they collate everything, so the forms are in stacks of 25 with colored paper in between each stack. This will be important later, well, kind of.

Alright, so she decided to push the boxes down the stairs instead of carrying them down. The half-full box came down no problem. After she sent it down, I made a comment about that not being very smart. I thought she would pick up the second box and bring it down. I guess I was wrong. The next thing I hear is a big THUD and then see blue papers fly everywhere! Yes, Beth, a full box will tip over because the center of gravity is higher than in the half-full box. Oh goodness!

So remember those nice stacks of 25, yeah, they're no longer here. And we are now counting out about 2,000 forms and sorting them back into stacks of 25... It's really pretty hilarious, although not so much, all at the same time.

Today's Tidbit: I think I just found my wedding song :P

Big 9

Well I had an absolutely fantastic day! Big 9 was all that it was cracked up to be, and then some more. I am so glad that I decided to take the day off work. And I'm glad that I was able to be there to help Connie out. It was really, a lot of fun!

Laura says my title was cool and sounds way important. I was the Clinician's Assistant. Basically, I did anything that Dr. Peter needed me to. I made sure he had sharpened pencils (he went through about one per choir), cold water to drink, and I was in charge of getting the music for each choir so he could look at it during their performance. He is a really nice guy and it was a lot of fun to work with him.

Alright, on to the choir performances of the day. I would venture to guess that not a whole lot of people actually saw all 10 choirs. It was definitely a cool experience to get to do that. The following review of the day is simply my opinion. Keep in mind that I am not a music expert, not by any stretch of the imagination.

The choirs that performed this morning were Mayo, JM, Mankato West, Mankato East, Winona, and Faribault. I thought that Mankato West blended pretty well. I was kind of disappointed that they didn't do harder songs. I think they really could have showcased their choir better had they done so.

Mankato East wasn't all that impressive to me. However, I really liked Past Life Melodies. I kind of wish they would have saved that for their last song though because they did it the best. Winona was okay. I really liked their last song, which was He Never Failed Me Yet.

Faribault was definitely the surprise of the morning for me. I was so nervous for them to sing Water Night. I couldn't figure out how they were going to do an 18-part song. Well they did it with 14 parts, but they did a really good job with it. I was very impressed with them and give them the best choir of the morning award :)

After lunch, we had some very strong choirs. Albert Lea was first. I thought they were pretty strong. Kind of up there with Faribault for me. I knew quite a few people in their choir, so that was cool. Century came next, but I'm going to save talking about them till the end.

Owatonna was after Century. Owatonna clearly has the reputation of being the best in the Big 9. They are really quite impressive. They blend gorgeously and I love their dynamics. I liked I'm a Train, especially Mr. Harris' hat. Ha! The afternoon finished out with Austin. Austin was pretty good. I was entertained by the William Tell Overture. I'd put them with Mankato West.

Alright, now I get to brag about Century. Holy wow! They were so amazing today. I cannot even tell you how proud of them I am. I couldn't stop smiling through their entire performance. It was, by far, the best I have ever heard them sing. Voice Dance II was the perfect song to open with. I got chills (and tears) when they sang Kyrie by Rene Clausen.

And oh my goodness, they nailed Elijah Rock. I haven't been the biggest fan of that song this spring. I liked it alright, but it always sounded a bit off to me. Well, that was not the case today. Wow, wow, wow! They got a standing ovation for it even though it was in the middle of their performance. Leon directed it and he did a fantastic job! They finished with How Can I Keep From Singing? and then Alleluia. This was probably my favorite song of the day. I absolutely loved it.

I applaud Century and what they did today. They sing with an energy that no one else even comes close to. Rumor has it that Dr. Peter even told the Select Choir to be more like Century with their energy. Yay! It was so exciting to see them and hear them. I still can't stop smiling just thinking about it. It was definitely the highlight of my day.

I knew at least one person in 7 out of the 10 choirs. So that was pretty cool. It was super fun to hang-out with Laura and Matt and Rebecca and Amanda today too. I'm glad they came and sat with me. I also got to talk to Sara and Alyssia, yay!

I was able to come home for a few hours before the Select concert tonight. When I got up to Century, I ran into Brittany and Armando, so I sat with them for the concert. Honestly, it was a little on the boring side. Okay, that's polite. The highlights from the concert were watching the incredibly bored choir kids during the orchestra and band performances (especially Lucy and Mary dancing!) and *SILENCE*! Good times to be had by all :)

So basically, today was nothing short of amazing. Congratulations to all of the choirs that sang. I was very, very impressed. And to my favorite choir in the entire world... You guys rocked today! I will hopefully see you all soon.

Today's Tidbit:

Here's who I knew in all the choirs.
* Mayo: Sarah
* JM: Mike & Greg
* Mankato West: No one
* Mankato East: No one
* Winona: Alyssia
* Faribault: Sara
* Albert Lea: Merissa, Jenessa, Levi, Christine, & Kirsten
* Century: Um, the whole choir?
* Owatonna: Laura, Matt, Rebecca, Anna, Amanda, & Travis
* Austin: No one

Here's who got standing ovations (if I remember right):
* Faribault
* Albert Lea
* Century (twice!)
* Owatonna
* Austin

Happy Prep Day!

I would like to first say that I had a simply wonderful day! The alarm went off this morning (which was way, way, way too early, by the way) and I started by reading a short devotion. It really didn't pertain to me at all, but it was good to spend some time with God before I got out of bed. Next thing on the agenda... Get dressed and ready to go.

Last night at the pool, I asked Jenna to help me decide what to wear for Prep Day. Lucy and Mary decided to have Emo Day yesterday and Prep Day today. I was, of course, sad that I wasn't at Century yesterday and really couldn't dress Emo while teaching 1st and 2nd graders. But I was ready for Prep Day. Anyway, so Jenna told me to wear a polo shirt with a sweater tied around my shoulders. She also gave me her pearls to wear. After swimming, I went to Wal-Mart to buy a ribbon to wear in my hair.

Okay, so that was the wardrobe of the day :) I headed up to Century and was a few minutes early. I got everything from Shane's office and then went and talked to Ashleigh and Molly in the hallway before the bell. I also ran into Lucy and Mary and talked to them for a few quick seconds.

Then the fun began... Shane's classes are awesome! Probably because he's an amazing teacher, just a guess :) I had so much fun subbing for him. It was totally great! I would go back there any day. I loved it.

I spent my lunch hour in the choir room, this should be quite the shock, I know. They were cleaning and getting it ready for Big 9 tomorrow. While I was there, Connie asked if I could help her out tomorrow. So now, I have a job for Big 9. I think I even have to wear a name tag :P Ha! I'm just happy that I get to see all the choirs, I can't wait to see how everyone does!

And, at the end of the day, I got another job for Monday. Life is good. Definitely keeping me busy lately!

Today's Tidbit: Alright, so I have been looking at all my past subbing jobs and I've been figuring out where I have spent the most time. I have subbed for my favorite second graders (AKA "the class from hell") 14 times. It was 11 full days, and 3 half days. I have also subbed for the Century Choirs 14 times, but only 8 of those were full days, and 6 were half days. The next closest is 5 days (3 full and 2 half) at John Adams for an 8th Grade science teacher.

I need to vent...

Today was a pretty good day at school. A little crazy, but when is it not? The first graders I had this morning were really good. And honestly, the second graders were pretty good this afternoon. My bad mood started when I left school and listened to my voice mail...

I had a voice mail from a co-worker. The message said, "You need to work on Saturday." He didn't ask if I could help out, he just told me that I have to be there. What is up with that?!? I think it's total crap. I'm really annoyed right now. First of all, he is telling me this only 3 days beforehand. Secondly, I already have plans that day!!! Gosh, I'm frustrated.

I guess I don't get to go to Grand March :( I'm really bummed because I know so many kids at Century, I really wanted to go see them all dressed up. I know it's kind of dumb, but I just feel like this is wrong of them to do. And honestly, if they had just asked me (rather than told me), I would probably have done it, but I'd feel much better about things.

Okay, venting done.

Today's Tidbit: I get to sub for the one and only Shane Baker tomorrow! Whoo hoo!
